Jaxtastic Life Spring Cleaning 30-Day Challenge - Day 1 - April 1, 2015

Today we launch 30 days of spring cleaning to make room for the amazing in your life.

30 minutes per day MAX
Welcome to a real-world approach to spring cleaning/decluttering. There will not be 2-hour purge sessions. There will be short bursts that you can easily fit into your schedule.

Just like exercise, if you work out hard for 2-hours, it might feel great but odds are the next day (or days) you will be sore, exhausted, possibly injured and won’t want to work out ever again.

When you have smaller manageable chunks, your odds of sticking to the new habit will increase, with less pain.

Topics for the Month – Chosen by YOU!!!
A huge THANK YOU to all who participated in the survey!

Based on the results, this is our schedule.

Now, let’s get to work!!!!

April 1, 2015 – Clothes/Shoes Clutter – Goal, Plan & Prepare
Today, we kick off with approaching clothes/shoes clutter. We won’t be touching any shoes or clothes today. This is the day we set a goal for the week, plan for our action and take any preparation steps needed.

Goal: Set a SMART Goal for the Week for Clothes/Shoes Clutter
As we look at clothes/shoes clutter, what is your goal? Make sure it is a SMART goal. This is a challenge so push yourself but also be S.M.A.R.T (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely). Read more about SMART goals here: Setting SMART Goals

Plan: When are you going to do your work?
Take a look at your schedule. Where can you carve out 15-30 minutes each day? Yes, only 15-30 minutes is all that will be required each day in this challenge, not including reading the daily emails or blog information.

Be sure to consider your personality & lifestyle. Are you a morning person? Are you an evening person?  Do you have others living with you? How will you work around them?

Plan: Where Will You Focus?
Are you going to start your work in a closet or in a dresser or somewhere else? Decide where you will start.

Prepare – Create a Holding Space
This challenge will not require you to get rid of things right way. However, it will require you to move the items to a holding space. Ideally, this holding space will be out of the way and in a place you won’t see every day. It can be in your garage or in a closet or a box in the corner of your room or in an unused drawer somewhere.

In the future, when you have had some separation, you will then make a decision on the items in your holding space.

Tomorrow – We Take Action
With you goal and plan in place, we will take action on approaching your clothes/shoes clutter.

I am so excited to do this!! I am going to get started this weekend. This is perfect because I am moving in a few weeks and want to be organized.

I was looking at my closet over the weekend and realizing that I have been holding on to a lot of stuff with hopes of fitting back into it...but then I realize that I've had some of the stuff since college (more years ago than I want to admit) and I said..."time to donate" so this is a perfect spot to start that purge....thanks!
